Offer members a membership card they keep in Apple Wallet on an iPhone or Google Wallet on Android. The card updates itself when they renew and stops being valid if the membership lapses.

Before you start

  • You need to be an Org admin.
  • Ask 2Labs to set up your card. 2Labs registers each organization's card with Apple and with Google, so you do not need an account with either. Until that is done, the switch to offer cards cannot be turned on.
  • Google reviews every organization before members can add a card to Google Wallet. It is usually back within two working days of 2Labs asking.
  • Have your logos and card colour ready. See Branding your membership card.

Steps

  1. Go to Organization Settings → Membership card.
  2. Under Who gets a card, check the two platform rows:
    • iPhone — Apple Wallet: Not set up, Ready or Certificate expired.
    • Android — Google Wallet: Not set up, Not yet requested, Waiting on Google or Live.
  3. Set up the card's name, colours and images, then click Save card. See Branding your membership card.
  4. Decide whether to Let Google remind Android members before their card expires. The page shows which day the reminder would fall on, and whether it clashes with one of your renewal notices.
  5. Turn on Offer members a card for their phone’s wallet. The change saves straight away.

What happens next

Members are offered their card when they join or renew, and can get it again from their own page at any time. After renewing online, the confirmation email includes a link to add the card.

You can also send a member their card from their record: in the Membership cards panel, click Send card beside the person. They are emailed a link to a page with the Add button.

Android members see no Add to Google Wallet button until Google has approved your organization. Members who want an Android card in the meantime are emailed automatically when it clears.

If the Apple certificate expires, cards already on phones keep working but cannot be issued or updated until 2Labs renews it.

Turning Offer members a card for their phone’s wallet off makes every card already issued invalid, on both kinds of phone. The message tells you how many cards were voided.
