A Newsletter signup form collects an email address, with a consent checkbox, and adds the person to People so you can email them later.
Before you start
- You're an Org admin. Members can see forms but can't create them.
Steps
- Go to Communications → Forms and click New form.
- On Newsletter signup, click Use template.
- Under Form basics, set the Form name, Headline and Intro text. Turn on Show branded header & footer if you want your colours, name, charity number and website around the form.
- Under Consent (CASL), edit the Consent checkbox text. Consent required to submit is on by default.
- Under Fields, Email is always required. Turn Collect name and Collect organization on or off.
- Optionally, under Before the form opens, turn on Confirm email before the form opens. People then confirm their email with a one-time code before they see the form.
- Under After they sign up, set the Thank-you headline and Thank-you message.
- Click Publish. Then use Copy embed or the form's ⋯ menu to share it.
What happens next
When someone clicks Subscribe:
- A new person is added to People as a Prospect and tagged Newsletter. Someone already in People just gets the tag; no duplicate is made.
- Their Email opt-in is turned on. This happens on every newsletter sign-up, even if you turned off Consent required to submit and they left the box unticked.
- The sign-up is saved under the form's submissions. On the form list it shows as subscribers.
The Send a welcome email switch doesn't send anything yet.
To email your subscribers, use a segment in People with a Tag rule for Newsletter, select those people and click Email. Anyone whose Email opt-in is off is skipped.
