Set up your receipt details once. Donors prints them on every receipt and uses them to number receipts.
Before you start
- You're an Org admin. Members can view the page, but the fields are read-only.
- Your charity's legal name, registration number (BN) and registered address.
- A photo or scan of the authorized signature, in dark ink on plain white if possible.
Steps
- Go to Organization Settings → Receipts. You can also click Receipt settings in Receipts.
- Under Charity details on receipts, fill in Legal charity name, Charity registration number (BN), Registered address, City, Province, Postal code and Location issued (city on receipt).
- Under Authorized signature, click Upload, crop to just the signature, and click Use this crop. The signature is saved straight away, and Donors removes the background so only the ink is stamped. Enter the Signatory name and Signatory title.
- Under Receipt numbering, choose the Number format, the Reset cadence (Every calendar year or Never — continuous), and an optional Prefix. Next receipt number shows what the next receipt will get.
- Under Receipt logo, your organization logo is used. Turn on Use a different logo on receipts to upload a separate one.
- Under Default & annual preference, set the Minimum amount to receipt (CAD). Gifts below it from per-gift donors get no receipt. Leave $0 to receipt every gift.
- Set the Auto-receipt value (CAD) if you want small online gifts receipted and emailed automatically. Leave $0 to send every receipt yourself.
- Click Save receipt settings.
- Click Preview receipt PDF to see a sample with your current logo, signature and numbering.
What happens next
Every receipt you generate uses these details, the next serial number in your sequence, and your signature. Numbers are assigned once and never change. Numbering resets and annual receipts follow the calendar year. The Receipts page shows Authorized signature on file once a signature is uploaded. Year-end receipts can't run until the signature, charity name, address and registration number are set.
