They can see the event, but they cannot register. A Members only event needs a membership in good standing, and a One chapter only event also needs them to belong to that chapter.
On the event's page, a member first confirms who they are with their email address and a six-digit code. If their membership is not in good standing, they see Members only — renew to register. with a way to renew:
- If their renewal is still open, a Renew now button takes them to it.
- Otherwise, such as once the membership has lapsed, they are asked to contact your organization to renew. Your contact details from the membership card's How to reach you are included if you have set them.
Someone with no membership, or a former member, sees This event is for members. A member outside the chapter sees This event is for members of the chapter named on the event.
Registration reads the same good-standing flag as the member record. Whether a member in grace counts depends on A member in grace is still in good standing under Organization Settings → Terms & renewal rules.
At the door, a lapsed member who is not registered shows as Not registered, with no ticket to sell.
