The status in the editor toolbar always tells you where a page stands. Nothing a visitor sees changes until the page is published.

  • Live — published and up to date.
  • Draft — it has changes that aren't published yet.
  • Pending — it's waiting for approval.

Before you start

  • Your edits are already saved. The editor saves automatically, so there's no Save button.
  • Check whether your site requires approval. If it does and you're an editor, the button reads Submit for approval instead of Publish.

Steps

  1. Open the page in the Editor and click Publish.
  2. If Sites lists things to fix first, click Open block beside each one, fix it, and publish again.
  3. If a Quick SEO check appears, accept the suggested search title and description, or click Keep current SEO.
  4. If your site requires approval, click Submit for approval and add a note for the reviewer if you like. The button changes to In review and the status to Pending.

What happens next

The live site takes a minute or two to update after a publish.

A submitted change waits in Approvals. A site admin opens it there, clicks Review, then Approve & publish or Reject… with a reason. You can follow your own submissions in Approvals too. If changes are requested, the reviewer's note appears at the top of the editor with a Fix & resubmit button.

Publishing a page sends that page only. If something else is published but not on the site yet, such as site settings, a notice names it after you publish, with a Publish everything button. Site admins see this notice.
