SEO is how your page shows up in Google and when someone shares it. You set a page's title and description for search on the SEO tab in the editor — or let the assistant write them for you.
Before you start
- Open the page in the Editor and switch to the SEO tab.
Steps
- Set the Meta title — the clickable headline in search results. The counter shows how many of its 60 characters you've used.
- Write the Meta description — the sentence under the headline. It has room for 160 characters.
- Check the previews beside it of how the page will look in Google and when it's shared.
- To pick the picture used when the page is shared, click Choose image under Social share image.
- Short on time? On the Chat tab, type / and choose /seo, or ask "write SEO for this page". The assistant drafts both from the page's content.
- Click Publish (or Submit for approval).
What happens next
When you publish, a Quick SEO check may suggest a new title and description if the page's content has changed. Accept the suggestion, or click Keep current SEO.
A page with no social share image of its own uses its hero image, your site's social share image from Site Settings → Branding, or your logo.
Leave Allow search engines switched on unless you want the page kept out of search.
